At the races cant be ordered on its own. The only sporting related ppv stuff on sky is boxing and wrestling.

At the Races is on the News mix ( which on its own is €20.50 per month or as an add on is €2 per month ) and also includes

    British Eurosport
    British Eurosport 2
    CNBC
    ESPN Classic
    Extreme Sports
    FOX News
    Motors TV
    NDTV 24 X 7
    STAR News
Sky News ( which is fta )
    Sky Sports News
    Real Madrid TV
    .

Ppv - Box Office Movies and as Mikey said, boxing and wrestling.

can i pay for the news mix over the phone with my credit card and have it activated

i don't want to sign up for a year of the news mix

just for maby a month here and there during cheltnam and events like that ?

At The Races don't show Cheltenham. Racing UK has most of the UK's race courses and can only be gotten through the Setanta package.

Yes you can and also you can have your package changed every month if you wish, ie. you find you're not making use of the subscriptions you are signed up to, you can remove them or have others added.

Unfortunately you would have to go into a 12 month contract with Sky to have a card activated / re-activated.

Very true, but all of the major races ie Gold Cup, Aintree etc are available on most of the common channels when they are on. BBC RTE etc.

You must sign up to Sky for a year and pay the minimum 20.50 per month as far as I am aware. If you got the Variety pack (e4, sky1, living, paramount, etc) and the news mix you'd pay €22.50 per month. You can remove the News package when you dont need it (although you have to keep it for at least a month at a time). But as for being able to just get the news mix

    Sorry, I didn't make it clearer :)

You can get the News mix on it's own for €20.50. You will still get RTE 1, Network 2, TV 3, TnaG, Channel 4, More 4 and E4 as a bonus mix.

There was racing on C4 a while back are they still doing that or am I completly mistaken?

    Could you finish that sentenace?

Yes you can get the News&Events pack on its own. You could also change it every month like Wizard007 said earlier. When you sign up you get to pick & mix your package..like a sweet shop:D:D

All the big race meetings are covered on terrestial tv...

RTE, CH4 and BBC all show horse racing. Ch4 cover it especially well.

Danny B - the way i took it up, the OP only wants "At the Races" occassionly and asked if he could order the News Mix when the racing it on. I dont think the OP wants Sky at all, only the Channel 415 while the big racing events is on. I took it up that the OP didnt want to pay a yearly subscription to sky, just kind of get the news mix as P.P.V

Coverage on terrestrial TV is dimishing at present. The BBC are cutting the amount of days that live racing is on to just 14, down from 27 this year, and 74 ten years ago.

In fact, Channel 4 were looking to get paid to show it, and by way of sponsorship, it probably is. Thats unheard of in this age of sports rights megabucks.

At The Races unique selling point is it has almost every Irish meeting.
