I have a HP dv9000. The hinge seems to have come loose at the back and it is separating. The screen (lcd) is fine but the plastic bits seals are a small bit warped/bent.

Anyone suggest a reliable/non rip off place in DCC (north) where I could get it fixed?

Get a small philips and tighten up all the screws around the hinge, some laptops are notorious for giving hinge trouble. You might have to remove some plastic trimming first.
