Can you just go into a garage and get your wheels balanced without anything else being done? Will any mechanic do this, or do you need to go to a more specialised "tyre" place?

a tyre place is your best bet, and generally it's about 7.50 a wheel to balance. some places say you only need the front done, but your better off doing all 4

Thanks! I'm assuming it's a wheel balance I need - steering wheel started shaking at 106kph earlier. I hit a speed ramp at about 15kph (which was obviously still too fast for that ramp :(), so I'm guessing that did it.

yeh possibly a weight fell off when you hit the ramp and it's upset the balance now

106kph, which is less than 120kph, which was the speed limit in the area I was in at the time? Sure go ahead, report me.
