has anyone here any experience with intrepid travel?

my gf and i are thinking about going to india for 2-3 weeks during june. she suggested intrepid travel as an easier means of exploring india as travel is organized in small groups and an itinerary is set out by their staff. plus it is a good way to meet people and have a bit of craic.

it all sounds good, but i am still a bit suspect of what is essentially a group of camera trigger happy tourist groups parading around a third world country. and am a bit freaked out that most of the people in our tour group could be elderly american folk... so is this really the way to see a country or should we grab the bull by the horns, take some risks, and travel solo

Hey i read a good travelogue about an intrepid trip around south east Asia. According to the guy who wrote it if you do an intrepid basic style trip you would more than likely be with a younger group as you would be using cheaper more basic accommodation etc..here's the link for it http://www.davechallenger.com/rsi-day51-bangkok.html (day 51 onwards!) it seems like a good way to travel anyway!!
