Pharmacy locum question...

I'm an ex-UK pharmacist, moved over here a couple of years ago and have decided to go back into locuming - used to work as a self-employed locum for many years in the UK.
I've applied to convert my UK reg to PS of I... just wondered if there were any other independent locums on here ? Or is an agency the way to go ?
What sort of rate do locums charge ? And is professional indemnity insurance advisable (was mandatory in the UK)
I've contacted a couple of local pharmacies to see if they'll let me "work shadow" them free for a couple of days to find out the differences in the systems between UK and Ireland, but if anyone's got any words of advice for me, I'd appreciate it.
    Cheers

at the moment fresh locums charge about €30/hr ..... some more experienced locums were charging €40-€50 but they dont seem to be getting any work now....apparently theres a recession !!!

approach a couple of pharmacies and see if they are interested in hiring a locum, talk to people in the industry and join the union !!!

    Best of luck

Whereabouts are you located? No harm in signing up with the agencies, most (all?) get their fee by charging the pharmacy not the locum so wont cost you anything.

Personally Id say your best bet is going in to pharmacies and talking to the pharmacist/manager. Even if they've no work they might know someone local looking for locums.
