screen damaged

Morning all..........

over the weekend i damaged my Dell inspiron- 1501 (i think) i was using it and it was working fine and i put it down on the table not sure if a bang caused it or water damage but when i picked it up again later the screen has a black smudge streak going down the left side of screen and when i tried turning back on its all different colours and looks like a barcode so i cant see the screen at all.

does this mean the laptop is wrecked and can the screen be changed on it??

any help is much appricated!

The laptop's not dead, the screen can be replaced quite easily on those laptops. They can be picked up on ebay cheap enough, and if you know how to use a screwdriver you can change them out. You could connect it up with an external monitor aswell if it's urgent.

One here for about 55 quid plus post. You would have it in in 15 mins with a small philips head screwdriver.

Thanks for that, may just buy that screen or get a quote on it being fixed....
Main thing is to get it sorted quickly, have it about a year and a half going to go look for receipt etc to check the warrenty but i was told that might not cover screens?
