Can someone tell me the legal situation of a person coming from a non-EEA country to Ireland.

One particular situation I want to find out about is if the person arrives on a tourist visa can that person then change the visa while in ireland to a Study visa. Or what other visa options would they have?

    Thanks

No you cannot change the visa when here.

You must leave the country and then apply for a study visa.

Three months is the most time you can stay on a tourist/visitors visa.

A work permit issued to a particular employer allows a two year stay for the applicant. Can be extended .Expensive though.

Check department of foreign affairs and department of enterprise and employment website for full details.
