    i am wondering if their are any phonelines one can call to get a doctor's advice on certain medical treatments eg as in the cost, procedure. Obviously it would have to be confidential but I'm just wondering if you know of any

    I know I should go to a doctor and talk to him/her but i'm only seventeen and i'm afraid that will somehow inhibit the confidentiality.

    just leave a number if you know any!! thanks

    If you or your parents have health insurance, then some of those companies provide nurse lines, where you can get simple medical advice.

    Otherwise, I really would suggest talking to a GP. I don't know at what age doctors respect the confidentiality of a person, but at 17 years old, I'd imagine that they are unlikely to approach your parents, especially if you ask them to so.

    Posters, I am uncomfortable with the posting of numbers etc on this thread, so please refrain from doing so.

    Can you be a little more specific about the treatment/procedure?

    If it is medically recommended, your doctor, or any doctor, will advise you of what is involved.

    If you need minor surgery I guess you will have to tell your folks sometime...

    If you are covered by private health insurance, VHI and others have a helpline.

    To be frank I dont think it's possible to get specific advice over the phone from a doctor.They simply wont do this unless ,for example,its a relative of a patient and they might be ringing to discuss something related to ongoing treatment or something like that.

    Why not google searchy the information you need??

    A doctor wont reveal what you say to him or her or details about your condition(if any).He / she may well ask you about your parents in a general way but it depends on what the matter is.

    If there is something unusual or you are worried just make an appointment to see a doctor.They are used to seeing all kinds of things and theres noi need for worry.We cant diagnose here but dont delay if there is something you need sorting out.

    Maybe ring VHI nurseline?

    Otherwise www.netdoctor.com is good.

    Doubt you would be able to get prices of procedures from the former, maybe an estimate from google?
