    Hi all

I've got two partitions on my computer, one with Xp on it and one with Vista. In total i've 250gb harddrive with Xp using 160 ish gb and Vista using the rest. Can i shrink the Vista partition and get Xp to recognise the new space and be able to use it or do i have to do a full format ?

    Thanks in advance

Resizing can be a bit funny. IIRC, it depends on what partition is first and so whether the free space is in front or behind the partition you want to increase.

I'd suggest backing up (I mean it!), defragmenting all partitions, resizing the Vista partition, restarting, trying to expand the XP partition.

If you can resize the XP partition to use the new space, create a new partition to utilise it instead.

Yes that's what i'm afraid of losing everything, most of the important stuff is backed up anyway.

As far as i can remember the Xp partition is the first one, the drive letter is C: whereas D: is vista.
