Looking for a nice 46" or 50" plasma with low power consumption.

Which of the new Panasonics has the lowest consumption?

Trying not to add another 200/300 euro per year to my esb bill

I think the G15 series would be the next in line.

It all depends so much on usage patterns, but if we take a standard(ish) figure for an LCD of 350 watt in use, and make a rough guess that it's on 5 hours per day then that will cost you about €20 per 2 monthly bill.

For a rough idea of power on watts for these type of TVs look here:
    http://reviews.cnet.com/4520-6475_7-6400401-3.html?tag=arw

So for a 350 watt TV used on average 5 hours a day you're looking at a cost of around €120 per year on electricity. It's also worth noting (from the above report) that standby for all these TVs is now pretty much all under 1 watt.

ESB have a calculator that allows you enter an appliance's watts and daily usage to give you a cost per 2-monthly bill if you want to play around with other figures.

    not in ireland unfortunately!

the models in uk are (from best to worse)
    Z1
    V10
    G15
    G10
    S10
    X10
    C10

    in ireland it is
    G10
    S10
    X10

the new panasonic neoPDP panel has low energy consumption, in ireland thats the G10 series - available in 42", 46" & 50"

Plasma TVs are nowhere near as bad on electricity as they are being made out to be, they are still use more power than LCD but not much more.
The amount of power they use at any second depends on the content being displayed on the screen and the settings you have the TV at.

If you had the TV display settings at dynamic at max brightness & contrast displaying an all white image, then that would be using the stated max wattage as per the manual.
If you had the TV display setting at cinema or normal and 50% brightness & colour displaying all black image, then it would be using its lowest power setting.

During regular TV viewing (football, CSI) with my Efergy meter, it shows the TV using around 100-120W for HD Ready TV.

You can probably double that for FullHD models but this years Panasonic Plasma range are meant to be very power efficient.

The G15 is the same as the G10 from a picture performance point of view, except the G15 has more features like Viera Cast, which links via the web to a Viera site for web broadcasts and things like that. Nothing worth spending another €150 - €200 on in my opinion! If Viera Cast comes into its own in 2 or 3 years you could get a Panasonic Blu-Ray player with it if your TV didn't have it anyway!
