Yeah so this is the remaining schedule as per ABC:

    April 15 - 5x13 - Some Like It Hoth
    April 22 - Break/recap
    April 29 - 5x14 -
    The Variable
    (100th episode of the show)
    May 06 - 5x15 -
    Follow the Leader
    May 13 - 5x16/17 (Finale)

Add on 4 days to each date to get the RTE/Sky air date.

I've heard a lot of rumours sad professor that 5x14
    The variable
    is a
    Faraday
    centric episode (
Supposed to be a constant follow up
    ) and 5x15
    Follow the leader
    is a
    Richard
centric episode. Can you or anyone confirm that? if true i think it's safe to say that season 5 is keeping it's best stuff till last!

If you don't want to know what about the centric episodes don't check the spoilers!

I thought they were postponing showing season 5 until February with the intention of not having any breaks?

The real reason for the February start date is because of the shorter seasons. And the reason for the shorter seasons is because the writers refused to do more than 48 more episodes and ABC wanted to drag the show out. ABC attempted to justify this by saying it would mean uninterrupted seasons.

Also, because of the ratings system, "sweeps" etc, in the U.S., ABC have a certain date they want the finale of the show to air on. I suppose they could have pushed the premiere back a couple of weeks but that might have placed the start date too late in February. More questionable was their decision to air 5x01 and 5x02 as a double episode but after the long hiatus they probably wanted to start the season with a bang.

To be fair though a week is nothing compared to the breaks we had to endure in previous seasons.

yeah i don't mind waiting an extra week for a new episode. it's the wait between seasons that's the real killer. we're gonna be waiting from May 2009 till about January 2010 for season 6 :( hopefully they'll end this season with a big bang and give us plenty to think about during the wait.

Are they going to show this on Sunday on RTE and Sky does anyone know?

The recap episode that is. Wouldn't mind a look, they're usually alright.

I haven't watched the recap but I assume that was Mr Friendly/Tom in season 2.

I haven't watched the recap but I assume that was Mr Friendly/Tom in season 2.

TOM: Oooo, 50 days. That's what -- almost 2 whole months, huh? Tell me, you go over a man's house for the first time, do you take off your shoes? Do you put your feet up on his coffee table? Do you walk in the kitchen, eat food that doesn't belong to you? Open the door to rooms you got no business opening? You know, somebody a whole lot smarter than anybody here once said: "Since the dawn of our species man's been blessed with curiosity." You know the other one about curiosity don't you, Jack? This is not your island. This is our island. And the only reason you're living on it is because we let you live on it. - The Hunting Party

Grrrr.... I hate when stuff like this is aired -- was working and cleaning the house for the day and was sitting down just to watch a new episode, not a bloody recap. I mean, recaps are fine after a long gap, but in the middle of a season???

Yet another reason to ignore TV and use downloads (of one type or another) or box sets?

The recap episode was interesting and clarified what exactly has happened, in correct order, for those confused by all the jumping around.

The only criticism I have of Season 5 is the method they used to telling the story. The jumping between the Oceanic 6 stories one week, to the Losties on the Island the next, wrecked my head. The scenes of the flashes and the headaches they got, depicted by own mental struggle to comprehend what was going on.

However, if they had structured the entire season like the recap episode, I feel Season 5 would have been more effective. My guess would be that the writers wanted to keep fans in touch with their favourite characters, and producing an episode each week that kept the focus on all characters maintained this tangent.
