I work as a night porter, 10 days in 14
I'm here 10pm til 7am, with no real breaks as there's no-way to cover them.
I earn 375 for 5 days work, no shift allowance or overtime, no travel allowances or uniform allowances.
    Is this legal?

Not sure, but minimum wage is €8.65 an hour. 10 days in 14 is a five day week on 10-7 is a 9 hour day totaling a 45 hour week (you get a paid/unpaid 'lunch' break?).

On that basis you could expect €389.25 so €375 seems short.

    9 hours per day X 5 days per week = 45 hours
    45 hours X €8.65 (minimum wage) = €389.25

So unless you are working during unpaid meal breaks then no it's not legal.

However if this is your first year of employment since the age of 18 then you are entitled to a minimum of €311.40

nope from what I remember in HR- you have to have a 1 hour break for every 7.5 hour shift plus a 15 min break. If you work more than that you're entitled to a 30 min break- I was a mamager in a certain high volume department store and used to regularly work 10am-9pm shifts, i'd get a 1 hour, 15 min and a 30 min break on top of that. change jobs, you're getting screwed!

if you are working in a hotel it might be legal....
I worked from 7.30 am to 3.30 pm with a half an hour unpaid lunch and often didnt get lunch til 2 o clock as this was the only time managers could cover so would be the only chance id get to use the bathroom ar anything either:eek:
didnt get time and a half on a sunday either as its basicallly part of the job when ya work in a hotel that its expected ya work sundays....

Isn't there a minimum level of PRSI that even people on minimum wage have to pay, 250/year or suchlike. That might help explain some of the difference.
