Hello, just wondering about this; did Aer Lingus just get 2 A320s one called St. Malachy (EI-EDS) and another one. Did they lease these or buy them, if buy second hand where from. Are there more coming?

    Thanks

EI-EDP and EI-EDS are supposedly from a cancelled or deferred Iberia order that Aer Lingus acquired in order to support the opening of its Gatwick base and summer operations. They seat less passengers due to a galley that had been installed as part of the Iberia specifications. They are both currently based in Dublin.

The leg room is an absolute disgrace on these new aircraft.

you obviosly have never been on a chartered 737 to spain or greece. Makes the aer lings leg roomfeel like the pheonix park.

I heard they are trying to reduce that big order with airbus they put in a few years ago.

    so id doubt it.

im sure the aer lingus website will reveal all.

Ah no, in fairness, you would want to see the leg room on EDP. Bramble has pics of it on his flickr. It looks shocking. I dunno who's legs would fit there.
Normal Aer Lingus legroom is grand, in my opinion anyway.

Anyone know what the pitch is on rows 8+ on EDP versus normal EI 320 pitch?

Yeah, noticed that. According to the list, they still have CRK and don't have EAV yet. Not to mention the new 320s

Despite all the faults at Aer Lingus, is the moral of the story to avoid Iberia economy at all costs. If the rest of IB shorthaul economy has the same seat pitch, they seem to be an outfit to avoid if at all possible if thats the way their economy passengers are seated:confused:

Was on the Aerlingus A320 the weekend and last week over to London Gatwick EI240 & EI241 Both were an Airbus the first an A80 i think but the second an A330. Both had leather seats both had plenty of legroom(I am 6 ft) and both had lovely Irish candy that seemed to but dubs :D

Whats an A80? I doubt it was an A330, unless you were going transatlantic. Were there two aisles with 2 seats at the windows on either side with a group of 4 in the middle?

Do you mean A320 and A321? A330 doesn't op to LGW (not yet anyway!)

"Irish candy that seemed to but dubs?"

i was sure it was an A330 i although love them am not a plane expert. It has 29 isles of 2 rows of 3 seats it was the same going over with slightly less isles

I bow to superior knowledge my reason fopr giving my input was because the plane looked fab and real new.

Not an A330. Sounds like an A320, as I'd imagine an A321 to have more than 29 rows. The isle is the part that you walk down, like the hall in the plane. So sounds like your plane had 3 seats - isle - 3 seats, and 29 rows.
An A330 has 2 seats - isle - 4 seats - isle - 2 seats, and rows 12 to 49 approx are economy class, first few are business. They're only used on transatlantic routes, and the dubai route, but sometimes they use one temporarily on a Malaga route or somewhere like that, but never heard of one on a London route. Wouldn't pay them on a route like that where frequency is key.

again it sounds like you have it right I mixed my words up what I ment to say was 29 rows of 3 seat left and right with an isle in the middle. Slightly less on the way over.

I would say you were on EI-DVJ

I was on this one on Sat morning to Manchester. Nice and new indeed. The seat leather was different - slightly grainier or something???
The overhead panels are quite different too. Nice to be one of the first to fly on a new plane!!!!

Lucky its not a full capacity A320 with 30 rows. Gets a little more cramped then!!

Feeling nostalgic about Aer Lingus being on the other side of the planet so I found this to compare how different an A320 must be compared to the old days :)

Love the scream of those reversers :D
