No Playback Devices - No Sound

Has anyone any idea how this can be sorted. I have just done a system repair because the laptop died and just had the black screen and then a blue one for a few seconds. Eventually it worked and we're up and running again except for now there's no sound. No playback devices, No Audio devices etc. Nightmare. Its a HP Pavillion zd 8000.

I had the same problem recently with a Sony Vaio laptop that I have and managed to sort it out from the support centre (I just cant remember how I did it though).

Go into Control Panel, System, Hardware, device manager, and check if the audio drivers are present. You may need the systems disk to reinstall them if they are missing or you could download them from the HP website.

you need to reinstall the sound card drivers,go to hp support download the motherboard or sound drivers, download drivermax free program, install, it,use import drivers, click audio only inmport, install, browse to folder where the audio driver files are located, click,ok,go,install.you may need to unzip, unrar the driver pac from hp ,to a specific folder.or you could use windows system programs, system restore to go back to when the card was working.but you will lose all data created after the restore point, restore date creation eg jan23rd 2009,there may be just 1 hp arge file download for mobo, drivers, which contains audio driver fies,or there may be a specific audio driver download for your laptop.
