Hi guys, my brother reinstalled windows on my system as I was having other problems a few months ago but even though I have the disc (which I genuinely bought and paid 150 euro for) I have lost the verification code and now my pc is doing my head in.
Main problem is wmp seems to have disappeared from my desktop and when I tried to use it I need to prove that I have genuine windows. I also have a black desktop with "you may have been a victim of software counterfeiting" displayed on the bottom. I'm annoyed with myself for losing the code but just don't want to have to pay for it again. Any ideas? Has anyone lost their code and got a new one from windows? I paid with visa but was a few years ago so maybe they have a record?

    Thanks if anyone can help.

I reckon your best bet is to ring Microsoft Ireland. I can't honestly think of any legal way around this.

i downloaded xp a while back and installed it on me twin brother laptop. When it asked for code I didnt have one but it gave me a microsoft number to ring. Rang it. All automated and it gave me a code straight away for nothing lol. Handy.

For anyone with similar problems I rang MS ( 1850940940) and they asked a few q's like email address I used and address disk was registered at ect. and they are emailing the verification code/ product key to me.
