A mate of mine rang me earlier said he has been trying to get shod of his 2001 mondeo since november. he had no joy in shifting it. He saw an advert in buy &sell for Cars wanted. 1990 -2008 with or without nct, All cars considered etc. call 1518 *******.
He rang the number and some chap asked him about 15 questions about the car and kept him talking for about 15 minutes. In the end yer man says that he might be interested but will "get back to him".
That was last week still no reply.
I saw the advert its plastered ALL OVER the buy and sell and in small print it says calls cost 3 euro per minute!!!
Now if thats not a scam i dont know what is!!! It cost him 45 euro !

God, i had the exact same experience a while back, except it wasnt a car they wanted to buy.
No, some nice lady told me i was great and must be "the biggest stud in Sligo". 20 minutes later, me ma's phone bill was up by almost 50 euro. When i called the lady back to tell her the phone number was ripping me off, she left me on hold for another 10 minutes!:D

Did you not notice it was premium rate?
Did it not sound a little suspicious?

There's big bucks to be made of these phone lines. They are mostly legal, as long as you declare (in small print!) how much you charge. Heres an idea - a free beer line where you charge 3 quid per minute, keep the caller hanging for 4 minutes then post them out a 4 pack of dutch gold! Minimum profit of 4 quid per call.;)

So technically i can have one of these premium lines offering say foe example.. Labourers wanted for construction jobs , all trades considered
Even if i have no intention of employing anyoone i can send out for people to apply and charge them premium rates??
once you have considered and not guaranteed and display a price for the call its all above board??
thats wrong ! has to be illegal

How much is clicking that link going to cost me? :D

€45 euro for a call that cant be right,a 1518 number charges per call not per minute http://www.askcomreg.ie/home_phone/phone%5fnumbers.37.LE.asp#L441
The ad also states €3 per call not per min http://www.carswanted.ie/index.php so he's obviously been overcharged and scammed if it cost him 45 quid
