We all had fun being armchair critics of the various division I college football polls last season, so how about the below 2009 preseason rankings for the top 10?

    1. Florida
    2. USC :D
    3. Texas
    4. Oklahoma
    5. Old Miss
    6. Ohio State
    7. Alabama

It is a bit too early for rankings. Most people are concentrating on the draft;)

Ohhhhhhh come on, take a chance! If it was like last season, waiting won't make a difference? They flip-flopped back and forth, and every which way but loose in the polls from game-to-game?

Where's Trojan hiding? He will surely take a chance and rank the top 10 preseason?

Have ye seen whom Pete Carroll has recruited for USC? What's that old Christmas season song...? "You better lookout, you better not cry..." to the other teams!

Shouldn't you be more concerned at the ongoing NCAA investigation into the lack of institutional control?

Most of the teams fudge in this regard. The problem with USC under Pete Carroll is that it's been PAC-10 #1 and in the national top 5 for too many years, whereas most of the other teams come and go. The NCAA doesn't like dynasties.

Ok theres that word again Dynasty. Firstly I hate it being used in sport Im a huge history buff and the word really annoys me no truly it does. Even as a Pats fan it pisses me off. First USC can never be a dynasty as A. They havent won enough under "one family name" why you ask Pete Carroll does not own/rule the Trojans nor does his family so you can't use the Carrol name as the dynasty. Personally the greatest dynasties in history ruled for successive years not on and off over many years i.e the Patriots or Steelers. The Kraft family could kind of be called a Dynasty with the Patriots but again as a history buff and a Pats fan I can't see how as they have won enough in successive years.

    So in conclusion:

Sorry Blue Lagoon you cannot call a College a Dynasty so im sure the NCAA dont give a flying fook about that part of your answer. With so many allegations against USC lately with players im not surprised they are being investigated but they are not alone.

Here read this Kevin Yeun dude makes me laugh all the time with his articles, this article he talks of dynasties also:

Not really a case of fudging. That implies to me illegal benefits coming from the university or it's boosters.

This is as a matter of athletes receiving benefits from agents seeking to represent them when they turn professional while they're still amateur college athletes. That may benefit the athlete and the agent but it sure as hell doesn't benefit the university. The burden of proof from investigators is to show that the institution knew about the contacts. That may be hard since most of the allegations re: Bush involve contacts between his parents and the agent. There's been a suggestion that an assistant coach knew but that looks to have gone cold. The other aspect of it was that USC was criticised in the past for having open practices that made the kids too accessible. That has changed now and access to "open" practice is now limited. After the Bush case LSU, Nebraska, and a number of other schools also adjusted their open practice policies. The most likely outcome is that Bush is stripped of his Heisman. Although I haven't followed the Basketball case with Mayo so I don't know how that could impact any NCAA decisions. There are definitely hordes of agents actively pursuing athletes before they graduate. There is just too much money involved to keep them away. Most of them are not top tier agents but start-ups, middlemen, and hustlers. If it weren't for Bush burning his former agent in waiting none of that case would have come to light.

Regarding dynasties some people have more liberal definitions than others. USC may have been more of a dynasty in the 70s than now. Some suggest "team of the decade" but if you measure it by national championships then Florida's back to back undisputed titles has to be tops. Though USC can claim to be a PAC 10 dynasty but I'm not sure that's saying much at least recently. That's like stating Boise State is a Big West dynasty. ;)
