    Hi guys.
This is no big drama but I am stressing out about it.
Basically I have organised a gig to raise funds for charity and I was hoping to get at least 80 people going to cover DJ/ Food costs and still have decent money to give charity...
At the mo I have 22 people confirmed and it is on Sat night!

How do I convince people to come without wrecking heads? My work mates have really let me down with their lack of interest...

I know that it's tough, how about creating a Facebook page for the event and sending out invitations.

It's not a good time to be organising an event like this as people are cutting back on discretionary spend and pubs aren't helping by staying as expensive as they are.

    Good luck with the event.

I wouldnt see it as a huge deal. At the end of the day it is a charity gig, so you are relying on other people's participation. I would use the bank holiday Monday (when every one is off work) to set a plan of ringing round everybody you can seriously press into going. Maybe hit the local pub tomorrow night with the tickets. It's one of those get up and go situations, completely redeemable situation, but you have to make it happen.

Where is it on? ....Just thought I'd ask, you dont have to give an exact location, was just wondering what area of the country?

Not to sound discouraging, but it is bad timing. The pub I work in hosted two charity gigs this last month - one expected 100-150 and got 30-40, one expected 200 and got maybe 25. So 22 out of 80 wouldn't be a bad percentage at all.

And honestly, the ones that were there had a lot of fun from what I could tell, so don't stress out about it. Worst comes to worst, it's good practice for the next one.

cheers for the replies - I know it is cr*ppy timing but I am doing the mini marathon for this charity in June so that's why I wanted to have a fundraiser.

The yolk is in Dublin and no...... i am not looking for the sympathy vote to rope you all into coming! Just thought i'd pick your brains

Good suggestion about the facebook event invite - did that and posted it on bebo too.....

Tix are €20 but there is food/ DJ/ free raffles with really good prizes etc so i didn't think it was too extortionate?

    keep the fingers crossed anyway....
