Salou or Cap Salou?

I'm hoping to head off for a couple of weeks in June to Salou, but we've found a great deal on a hotel in Cap Salou. We're not sure exactly how far it is from Salou, there seems to be differing information. There will be a 13 year old, a 6 year old, me and my parents. None of us are into wild nightlife (anymore) but also want somewhere that we can maybe go for a walk of an evening and have some life around, so don't want to be too far away from Salou itself.

Cap Salou would be a better bet for you and your family ,there are some nice restaurants and bars there but a lot of the entertainment is based in the hotels and apartments , if you wanted to go into Salou the buses go the whole time and taxis are fairly reasonable as well . Salou itself is mad and I definitely would,nt want to stay there but its great to go in on the bus and come back out of it later in the night , also La pineda is only a couple of miles in the other direction from Cap Salou it has a good selection of restaurants and bars as well , the only thing about Cap Salou is its a bit hilly so if anyone had walking problems it could be a bit of a problem

Cap Salou is the slightly more family orientated area - less busy than the centre of Salou which is just a few minutes drive away.

La Pineda and Cambrils are on the other side of Salou and well worth a visit - Cambrils is lovely and has some good fish restaurants.

And you cannot go to Salou without going to Port Aventura - it's great fun! You're talking about a 10 minute drive from Cap Salou.

Get the train into Barcelona too - it's only about 30 mins by train.

Definitely Cap Salou - Salou itself is a dreadful place - Cap Salou is much quieter and a hell of a lot classier.

Salou and it's beaches are only a short trip one way (you could walk it) and La Pineda with it's water park is a short distance the other way.

Port Aventura is also very close and buses are regular and reasonable in all directions.
