    Hi all
Just picked up a John Deere D38R scarifier and it doesn't seem to be any good. The collector doesn't take up half the moss and grass left behind. Has anyone else used one of these??

    Hey
Scarifiers in genral are really for creep weep and digging out the dead layer of grass, the whole ideal to scarifying is for grass roots to get water, air and to prune the grass to make it look healthy, for moss you will need to use DP50 or some other type of weed killer, but 1st cut you lawn really low, you can scarifier up and down then switch 90 degree to left and right to get best results. Collection on any scarifier is not great what every the make if you look at the blade on a mower to a scarifer there are two differant things, mowers blade create more air flow while a scafifier blade create very little air flow, alway best to scafifie and then use your walk behind mower to pick up material after... :)
