Audi A4 Key Fob malfunction

04 A4 1.9TDi - key fob was working fine. Dropped it. Wouldn't work ( neither open the car nor start it ). I've reprogrammed it to the central locking using the spare key in the ignition and the faulty key in the door lock method and that's fine.

However it still will not start the car. The trip meter shows up SAFE when the ignition is turned on and it will not start. I'm sure its the transponder coding thing and am hoping I don't ahve to go to a dealer to have the TP replaced / recoded ?

Another point to note is that the master key ( the hardedned black plastic thingy ) gives the same SAFE message on the odometer display. But I'm sure that these have coded transponders built in so it should start the car ??

Now, i've only the spare key fob which is functioning fine - thats it:mad:. Any input guys ?

    Thanks in advance

Yep, sounds like it's the glass transponder that's broken when the key fell.
There is a website where you can buy transponders and then all you need is vagtacho to code the key to the immobiliser in the clocks. Have a search on vagdrivers, lot's of info on there.
