Small clothes sizes (4-6) in dub??

I am quite slim and i am finding it hard to get clothes in my size in a lot of shops in dublin.

I just wondered if anyone knew of anywhere that did small sizes.

I find principles is more for older ladies but i know they have a small section.

In particular i find it hard to get jeans that fit as i take a size four in jeans and i also my legs are not that long and i find it hard to get my leg legnth in jeans and i am sick of rolling them up!

I would be 5'4 and i take a 4- 6 in uk sizes but most of the sixes i have found in shops recently seem to be cut larger and longer in the leg(for trousers). So i guess i would be a four in a lot of shops but most places dont do that size.

Pennies only go down to an eight.

It seems to me that jeans are being cut longer too!

OR ELSE MY LEGS ARE SHRINKING!!

Anyway does anyone know where is good to get small sizes in Dublin for any type of clothes really.

    Thanks Louise:)

Hey Louise, not sure what help I'll be. I sincerely doubt that I could fit my ankle into a size six :)

Anyway, since you mentioned Principles, they're part of the Arcadia chain. I would say that Topshop, Miss Selfridge, Dorothy Perkins, Wallis probably also run the same sizing structure.

I think River Island go to a 6 and I'm almost sure they have a petite section.

Miss Selfridge definitely stock a size four, I remember because I was so surprised at it. Their leg lengths are generally quite short too imo

Topshop always have quite a lot of 4's and 6's.

    i hate that :(
I have petite jeans from dorothy perkins that i bought a few years ago & the length is perfect.
i bought a new pair recently & the legs are at least 3 inches longer if not more, and had to get taken up which of course lost all shape from them :(

Yeah Bershka do a proper size four, not the silly size four that has enough material around the thighs for a size 16. They might be too long for you though.

I used to work in Mango and we used to get a lot of Asian girls coming into us because we did size 6. Definitely not size 4 but would get trousers/skirts in a 6 and some tops would come in XS. Have a look...

I was going to say all the shops that have already been mentioned. Would you consider buying childrens clothes, particularly jeans? They do skinny jeans for children these days, and some quite nice tops actually. In Dunnes, they do 24" and 25" waist jeans and smaller, that's roughly 4-6, and they wouldn't be too short. 31-31" tops, that's about a 6. H&M is probably good for this too, but I don't know what sizes they use, their adult sizes are messed up anyway.

Jeans ARE being cut longer. I'm 5'6" and a size 10 and often find them too long, particularly designer jeans. Don't roll them up, though! Better to spend a little extra and have them professionally altered. Tell the tailor to preserve the original bottom hem. It looks much better and that way thay don't look like they've been shortened.

I agree with the suggestion of children's clothes...Many clothes meant for older girls ("tweens") are actually very adult looking (too adult looking IMO..) and no one would know you are wearing kids' stuff!!!!!

Also, I heard Gap is opening a store here. They go down to a size 0, which I think would be a UK4. Plus all of there jeans come in short lengths.

I know you said Dublin but the only thing I can suggest that hasn't already been mentioned is buying online, you'd get a much wider selection and better value a lot of the time!

maybe try shops that do petite ranges such as dorothy perkins & next & I know you can order in clothes in next in particular sizes if they dont have.

I hear you on the leg lengths...I'm only 5'2'' and even the shortest length in some shops is too long for me :(

The Spanish retailers are more likely to do correct cuts for sizes so Zara & Massimo Dutti are probably worth a look

jeans do seem to be cut longer these days. I used to always have to buy the longer ones but now regular always seems to be long enough

If you were open to buying online, there's a petite section on http://www.asos.com which is supposed to be quite good. And prices are great.

A Gap size 0 is massive, from past experience (I'm also a size 6), Gap jeans are a very strange shape for a petite girl :(

Shopping online isn't as easy when you're smaller. You can never know the size until you get something and sizes are so different nowadays.

I find Topshop really good OP for size 6 jeans, also Miss Selfridge - H&M too but the length defo has to be altered.

The only thing kids wise I can get is tracksuit bottoms - Nike don't think of us little ladies when making their sports gear! I get age 10-11 :D tax free clothes!!!! They don't allow for hips in kids jeans unfortunately :(

I'm 5'6" and a size 14, and I've had to go to short leg jeans quite a few times lately. I can only imagine how much that short leg would swamp someone smaller...

weird, I'm 5'6 yet I'm always a med-long or 33-34" leg in jeans. I was always thinking how difficult it would be if you were really tall cos I'm not yet I find legs short in jeans

You have been great help i will check out the places you mentioned:-)

I am glad it is not just me who has this prob!

I know i am thin but i was becoming paranoid about the height and short leg thing!!

I did at one point buy kids clothes ( dont tell anyone:p) but i find i the styles now i dont really like or they have bratz on them or you know whatever something and i dont like the styles.

I will try the shops you mentioned.

I might try online , but i would be hesitant to buy something that i have not tried on first!!

    Thanks so much:-)

Promod and Karen Millen are two good shops, though I would be a size 6 (with a large chest). Am 5ft 2in but find that I can get regular jeans in Levis as I am one of their regular lengths.
