Alright guys, Camden Fort is a cool historical abandoned fort covering one side - the Crosshaven side - of Cork Harbour.

I used to explore it every time I stayed in Crosshaven for those long summers from the age of 12 to now (29).

About 17 years ago, i first heard that the OPW or Cork Coco or someone like that was going to open it as a heritage site, however, all that has happened in the meantime from my observations is erosion and graffiti.

It used to be easily accessable although owned by the OPW (I think). Nowadays, they've tried harder to keep people out with new barriers on all sides boo hoo.

That didn't stop me though, here are a couple of pics from April 09.

Shame on both the OPW and Cork County Council for not looking after such a heritage site.
Do you have any more pics of the inside or entrance.

    Unfortunately not mate,
The main entrance has a massive barrier blocking the bridge over the moat. Usual danger and trespassing signs. A care taker used to live in the grounds, dont know if he still does.

The 1871 picture was taken by walking along graball bay, to the other side of the fort, and climbing a wall.Currently blocked by a barrier so all i could do was poke my camera through to get a good pic. I do remember getting deep inside with torches and all that years and years ago. Must try do it again some day.

As for ownership, this site clears up a lot of q's. Shame on Cork County Council indeed....
