    Hi folks,

I'm moving abroad for 4 months next week and leaving my car parked up for the time. What suggestions would you have for making sure it will start when I get back. Should I try leave as little diesel in it for that time or would a full tank go bad over that time? Anything else that would be small thing but which could make a difference.

    It's a 1.9Tdi passat.

    Cheers

ya if the tank is full it will create less condensation, dis connect the battery.
and dont forget to lock it

Hey - my parents live abroad for several months of the year and my Dad always parks his car facing down a hill so he can start it on a run if it won't start and never leaves much petrol in it - he maintains if its robbed they won't get far on his tank of petrol.

leave the keys with someone you trust.

Let them get insured and use it while you are away - they get the use of a car and you feel better knowing that they are taking care of your car.

Take the weight off the wheels if you can to avoid having the tyres deform. If you can't manage this then either overinflate them or have someone move the car every week or so in your absence.

    good points margo123

is the car going to be stored in a garage,if so fill the tank, if its outside leave it empty for margo123s point,

and make sure disconnect the battery, so that when you come back and re connect it the car should start hassle free

Better not use the handbrake either. Could be stuck on if we get some damp weather, unlikely here though
