So, who's got the biggest collection purchase wise?

not how many disks...for instance, The Dark Knight is a two disker, but only counts as one.
The Sarah Connor Chronicles has three disks, but still only counts as one.

How many do you have? and what's your single biggest purchase?

In that case, I'm the Lex Steele of the DVD world.

Don't look him up if you're under 18 kids... or if you've issues with the size of your man-bits!

    500+
Nice smattering of genres from Noir, through Sci-Fi, Westerns, Italian Neo Realism, French New Waver, Art House etc. etc.

    So, do I win?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,749 ✭✭✭✭wes

I gave up counting at like 100. I don't think, I have a lot more than that. Have 25/30 Blurays as well.

It'd be very sexy if people posted photos of their collections. The person with the biggest collection therefore becoming the sexiest. We could also then rifle thru your titles and then judge you as a human being based upon it.

At rough last count about 3,270 dvd's.
post pic shortly of some of them.

Since last count - numbers of dvd's have gone higher a fair bit.

I think we should also have a poll to see who has the biggest collection of .avi movie files*

*Which the user naturally ripped themselves for convenient viewing on the 360 from the DVD they own.

Why would that be sad? I'd say most would be pretty happy with such a sizable collection.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 314 ✭✭JackieRyan

    Sad for me
have to pick them up from the boys rooms and put them back in the shelves and then when he wants a new film not on sale here we send to america through an on-line shop to buy them , very costly but as he does not go out i think you would call this his hobby and forgot to mention the couple of hundred divx discs he has

Lets talk about something relevant to the real world:

How has the largest Laserdisc and HD-DVD collection ?

Or to put it another way.

Who was stupid enough to think HD-DVD would beat Blu-ray in the format wars?

have basic instinct on betamax - though it gets a bit fuzzy from rewinding and slow-playing at certain points

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,476 ✭✭✭Mr.Lizard

Always wonder about people with 3000+ DVDs. Not so much that they have that many but more where they found the actual time to watch them all?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,111 ✭✭✭MooseJam

yeah DVD's I never stop buying these, last count I had circa 17,000, they take up 5 full rooms of my house, it's all neat though

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,898 ✭✭✭✭seanybiker

roughly 400. Half of them are loaned out and i dont imagine ill see them again.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,111 ✭✭✭MooseJam

Don't know why anyone buys them to be honest - they're free on the interwebs

I don't know why people lend them to others. they never find their way back! i'm still missing a season of Stargate, Cube, Inside i'm dancing, Band of brothers, a season of CSI Miami, Universal soldier, two seasons of Battlestar Galactica and others, just through people borrowng...Agh!

Friend of mine has approx 600 single titles, and the rest would make it up to 850+

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,015 ✭✭✭Paddy Samurai

Gave most of my collection of 600+ videos to various charities. That was a waste of money for sure.
Have around 150 DVDS , but i'am taking it slow and easy this time round.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,788 ✭✭✭✭krudler

At a guess? 700+, my flatmate has over 1000
