Self-Amalgamating tape is that you need, it like electrical tape but turns to a plastic like substance when it hits air.

    Edit:

Just make sure to triple check the connection before you use it since it's a b1tch to remove.....

Probably be covered in garden about foot down. Is self amalgamating tape sufficent? ie denso tape?

    Thanks for replies

the submarine joint is the best probably for a maintenance free joint. denso is no use underground.there's also a few ways of making your own joints with gel and other stuff bought separate

self amalgamating tape and denso tape are very different things - and both are unsuitable for underground joints

use an oboe box or some sort of joint box and then fill it up with magic gell. stuffs great!

Obo box's are not really designed for underground.
The best advice for anything underground is do it right first time.
3 submarine joints is the right way & for the sake of €90 you know the job is right.
