Need help with MY first car

Well I've just passed my test and now im looking for my first car. Until now i have been driving a 99 toyota corolla and i love it but my mother now wants her car back.

I have about 3,500 to spend i want something that looks nice, is easy to drive but also reliable.

So anyone any ideas????

if I was in your shoes, I would be looking at a Ford Fiesta or an Opel Corsa, both of these cars are great for starting off in...
plenty to choose from, for your budget... As its your first car, buy of a dealer and get a good warranty...

thanks i did look at corsas but i didnt like them. never really thought of a fiesta so im going to do some research on them now!!

Fiesta with the 1.25 Zetec engine would be a good buy. Very reliable and plenty of go. DO NOT go for the 1.3 - be careful with the adverts.

I got a 00 Hatchback Corolla for 3300 for my first car recently. Probably even overpaid a bit for that.

I love it though- find it much more instintive to drive than other cars I learned on (Corsa, Polo and Focus)

It's got a 1.4 engine. If you are used to Corollas as well why not go for that?

I disagree with the comment about buying from a dealer with a warranty. I'd buy privately, you'll get better value and get a feel for how the car has been treated by the previous owner. The warranties offered by used car dealerships are usually not worth the paper they are written on, but if you really did want one you can buy one yourself anyway as they are provided by an independent company most of the time.

Fiestas are a super little car but I cant agree with the Corsa. maybe its just me but I've had nothing but bad luck with them over the years. Clio would have to be in there as would one of these:

Sorry Op. It is what i did when i was 17. My first car i spent 1000punt on and hit off kerbs......... after that i bough something a little bit better and after that something nice.

^ micras are nuns cars.....

Just avoid and citroens/pugeots/faits/renaults as first bars. More hassle then there worth.......

What i'd really like is something like a mini , corolla or a beetle (new versions) but on my budget i think ill have to keep dreaming:rolleyes:
