I finished my FE-1s today and went out on the piss.

I had too much to drink and managed to get myself arrested.

I was pretty pissed but there was no was no way I deserved to be arrested.

Anyway, I was dragged off to the police station and kept there overnight.

I was given 2 charge sheets, one for a s4 (drunk in a public place...) and a s6(using threatening or abusive words...).

I was also given another sheet that says:

"Recognisance taken by member of an Garda Síochána"

"I xxxxxxxxxxx a Principal, acknowledge myself to owe to the State the sum of€100 to the use of the Minister for Finance if the above-named accused fails in the condition hereunder"

"The condition of this recognisance is that the above-named accused will appear before the DM District Court on xxxxxxxxxxx"

Will this come back to haunt me when I look for an internship?

Will throwing some money at the problem make it go away?

moeny to poor box, apologise to guard, out of character etc, first offence you should have no conviction, no record

As above, find the Garda when he/she comes on duty next and apologies in person. If they're any sort of decent human they'll drop the charge.

We all make mistakes, even more when drunk.

Unfortunately I have one previous court appearance to my name.

It was struck out but still....

I'm gonna have to go chat to my solicitor in the morning and see what they make of it

The Garda that was on duty really didn't like me and clearly got a massive kick out of the fact that I was doing the FE-1s.

I don't think an apology will do me much good.

    These are crimes!?

Oh God I'm a monster. What if my family finds out what a delinquent I am?

Generally for something like this you would receive an adult caution (slap on the wrist) if it is a first offence. I'm the proud holder of one myself. This sits in a filing cabinet gathering dust unless you find yourself in trouble again at which stage it can raise it's head.

What you have described looks like a summons to appear in court to be charged with D&D so if convicted it looks like you may have a record. Were this can come to bite you in the ass if if you are looking for travel visas or there is garda vetting involved in any job you go for in the future. You would probably be looking at a fine and bound to keep the peace for a defined period. I'm not a solicitor by any means, just going of anecdotes here really.

Speak to your solicitor and have a look in the Legal Discussion Forum. You might find something there.

    Best of luck.

A child's got more bones than a grown up's got. (Dont let javaboy see it though, he's got a bit of a chip about the situation :) )

Feckin' wooden question dodging pinocchio wannabe!

Anyway OP your best bet is to ask your solicitor for legal advice. Something we can't give you here.
