I pod touch 16G can't connect to home WiFi

I have an Ipod touch which I don't seem to be able to connect to my home network. In settings I have found and chosen the correct network. The blue fan showing network strength is fully lit up but when I go to safari to try and open a page I get "Cannot Open Page Safari cannot open the page because it is not connected to the internet". I have connected to a wireless network at my brother's place in Singaport so I think the basic function is fine. My MacBook is working fine on the network (I'm using it now).
Help. :eek:What am I doing wrong?

Might be something more technical but have you put in the correct password or WEP key?

Have you got MAC address filtering enabled on your wireless router ? If so, you'll need to throw in the MAC address for the iPod Touch to allow it to connect. I have my iPod Touch working on my wireless network at home and can access the internet no probs.

Where do I put in the Mac address. Is it significant that my MacBook is working fine? I don't get a request to put in the WEP code, is this something I put in from the Settings menu?
    Thanks for you help.

I'm no techie, but I added in the MAC address to the Netopia modem that controls my internet connection.
