Hi guys I opened up a William Hill account last week and it was working fine until I tried to make a withdrawal they are demanding I send them proof of age before I can withdraw my money. I have several other online betting accounts and this has never happened to me before. I don't particularly want to send them such sensitive documents is there anyway I can just tell them to close the account and let me withdraw my money ?? Thanks

    They are a nightmare.

I have accounts with all the bookies, and when I went to withdraw I had to give them my passport details so they could do some security check, and then only allowed withdrawls via cheque and not back to my credit card like everywhere else.

So dont use them unless they are standout price, the hassle really had better be worth it!

    This topic keeps coming up.

This is standard procedure for a UK based bookie dealing with an irish customer. They are under obligation to ensure that you are over the legal age. They can't do this automatically under certain circumstances and as such, they can't accept your business without proof of age! The same thign occurs with UK based customers of PP or Boyles.

Go into one of their shops with ID and they can ring through and get your account cleared.

The above is correct(part of the Gambling Act), had the same prob with Laddys on line, just pop into a local shop with passport and problem will be sorted....strange thing is though you can deposit money no probs!!!

    Hi there,

What I did was call them on their UK no. below & provided them with my VISA no. (afaik you can only get one if over 18), I think they might have called visa & all was good. Pain to have to do but its easier than getting documents together.

"The simplest and quickest way we can verify you are over 18 years old would be to contact our Verification team on 0800 731 7823 (UK) or 00800 3551 3551 (International) who will be happy to complete the necessary checks with you over the telephone." Excerpt from WillHill help menu.

    Hope this helps,

Locate Passport > take photo of passport > save the photo to your comp > email the said pic. It's that easy. It's not only an English thing either - I've had to email Boyles before the verify my age.
