    hello

i bought gold online and the customs got it and sent me a letter.
I went to a customs house and am told i have to pay vat. I replied there is no vat on gold and he said to me "that is incorrect, there is vat on gold, but no duty"

Iv looked through the net and i think what he has told me is wrong

but i have to do what he says or i dont get what i ordered for,

    Can anyone advise me

    thanks

There is no VAT on investment gold, but I think it may be the case that you have to pay it now and then reclaim it (Form VAT 6A).

    Not 100% though.

Bought some gold last year and had no problem with customs. As far as I know this guy is wrong, you dont have to pay VAT on gold. Actually, I'm fairly certain. Ask him to provide the documents that state that you must pay VAT. I'm sure he'll come back empty handed.
