Cycling to Holyhead on friday, was wondering what the story is? Is just the same as being a foot passenger or do extra charges apply? Is there anypoint booking in advance?

Bikes on ferries are usually free. At the ticket desk just tell them you have a bike. And, they'll direct you to where the cars go on. The guys there will tell you where to park. Usually in a recess where they keep spare parts.
It's up to you if you want to lock the bike to something

I went from Holyhead to Dublin on Irish ferries in the summer and it was just treated as a normal piece of luggage. No extra charge. I just put it in the luggage van and it was driven onto the boat.

Earlier in the summer I sailed from Rosslare to Cherbourg in France also on Irish ferries and I was charged €10 extra for the bike. In that instance I cycled onto the ferry myself and locked it to a pole in the motorbikes area.
