    Hello,

Hope this is not against the charter, mods please do what you must if so!
I am not looking for medical advice.

I was hoping for some anecdotal comparisons from people who have had this procedure.

At the start of March I decided to get a small patch of untidy looking purple thread veins removed from the back of my leg (behind the knee)
I went somewhere very reputable, the nurse at the consultation said I was an idea candidate having fair skin so the purple thread veins will be easy to isolate and zap with the laser. Then the body is supposed to assimilate the debris over a 6 week period.

I decided to get this treatment becuase I cannot wear skirts because of this thread vein patch. It was totally flat, NOT a varicose vein and the work was done for cosmetic reasons only. Previous to the treatment I could cover the patch with make up but hey who wants to be messing around with make up on your leg for the rest of your life. So I thought.

Both my sisters had had similar work done on their legs years back with bad outcomes. They both reported the veins became black and never disappeared as they were told they would. Also they became slightly raised. That was so long ago I convinced myself that lasers must have come a long way or maybe they went to disreputable clinics. One sister reported that a year after the treatment the vein now looked twice as bad and has given up hope of EVER wearing a skirt.

How I wish I had of listened to them now. The same thing has now happened to me, its only 5 weeks on but the thread vein is now 3D, there are far MORE of them, the related veins around the original visible one are now becoming purpley blue, I am SO disappointed and depressed.

I will be going back to the clinic. I have photos of before but you know yourself they will say black is white and I signed something I bet is a disclaimer.

Can anyone tell me if this has happened to them?

We are the type of family with fair skin. We all bruise ridiculously easy. For example when I got blood taken recently. I was left with a huge purple, black, green and yellow bruise the size of your hand on my arm. The merest knock on us and we get enourmous hematomas.

    Is what has happened normal?

    Hi OP,
I don't think anyone here will be able to give you a definite answer on that. Best thing to do would be to head straight back to the clinic and tell them your concerns. They are the professionals.

Agreed. Sorry I realise it took you a while to type that out, but it really is getting too close to the wind medical advice wise so I have to close it..

Every case is different, so even if you did get people responding with similar they're not you and what is normal for them may not be for you. But you do have choices. Go back to the clinic. if not satisfied, get a second opinion and if still not satisfied maybe the legal route is your next option. Best of luck.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.
