    Hi all.
My much loved Audio Technica ATH M40's Monitoring & Mixing Headphones
are nearing the end of their life and will need replacement fairly soon. Whilst their build quality was questionable and they were never the most comfortable to wear over long periods they do however have a wonderfully neutral sound with plenty of detail so I'm looking for something similar but better made without breaking the 'toxic' bank.
BTW I just tried out a pals Sennheiser HD650's and contrary to most reviews found them to be extremely bass heavy and lacking clarity compared to the M40's. Any recommendations?

Dell Pentium D, Cubase SX3, Aardvark Direct Pro 24/96, KRK Rokit 5 Monitors, Audio Technica ATH M40 Headphones, Addictive Drums, Kontakt 3, Halion Player, Yamaha Guitar, Roland Midi keyboard, Aria Pro 11 Bass & Rode NT3 Mic.

Rokit 5's are pretty good for their price point, reviews aplenty on the net.

Rokit 5s would be very uncomfortable as headphones ...

I'll jump in here and suggest Beyer Dynamic DT 770 Pro I used them recently for tracking and they were very useful for recording in the room. Good separation, comfortable and excellent sound quality.

I could EQ and hear changes in mic impedance through them while recording vox and electric guitar in the room.

X MUSIC have the ATH M50's

    I have a pair of ATH-910 PRO

I find them very comfortable and lightweight, they're fairly neutral sounding...
