Am buying a groupset for a new build. Rival seems good value at around 500e and good reviews but never used it. Anyone got any opinions on it?

I got mine from jejames (add about 35 quid for postage), and It arrived yesterday. Haven't got it built up or used it in anger yet, but initial impressions are very good. The quality, and weight are top notch, and I put the shifters on my bars, and they seem pretty comfortable (not that the bars are attached to a frame yet, so it's early days.

Will let you know how it goes once the bike is built up and I've been out on it, but first impressions are great

Supposed to be as good is ultegra but a lot cheaper. Will check out that site. Thanks

Was only just searching for reviews of this groupset as was considering buying a Boardman Team Carbon bike from Halfrauds!
Seems to get quite positive reviews.

Only trouble with the Boardman (apart from the dodgy rear wheel that a lot of people are complaining about) is that its not full rival. Almost but not quite, the brake calipers and tektro instead, not too keen on the compact chainset either, but on the whole its a great deal. Just buy it over the border and save yourself about 300 euros eh ?

I guess that queries relating to the Rival groupset and SRAM groupsets in general concern their double tap shifting. I've been using Rival on a Focus bike for a little while now and it takes a little getting used to. Shifts to higher gears are simple as it's just one click inwards of the shift lever. It's shifts to lower gears that require a bit more familiarity to perfect as you push through the first upshift click and swing the shifter over further for the second downshift click (if that makes sense).
The feel of the lever bodies/hoods is pretty good though not as good as the latest Campag which are very comfortable.
