Car Hire in Italy - Any Tips

Traveling to Italy in the summer and will be hiring a car.

Has anyone any experience of picking up a Car at one Airport and dropping of at another Airport.

Will be flying into Milan and plan to pick up the car there and drop off the car in Verona.
Have searched the Web and seen some of the offers from Compannies I have never heard of. I would be grateful if anyone can recommend a company they have used before.

Have looked at Budget and Avis but they are more expensive. Is it worth sticking with a named brand when hiring.

I don't know of any specific rules when hiring a car in Italy than would be different from elsewhere.

Personally I book through a 3rd party site such as novacarhire.com (Irish) who can often get better rates than by booking directly via the 'big ' names.

Just be careful you know what you're signing for - I know of people who have hired cars in Italy - from Verona - with one of the big names who signed for extra charges which they didn't understand as the forms were in Italian.

Came home to a whopper credit card bill a couple of weeks later. Make sure the company explain to you what you're agreeing to.
