Just wondering if it is better to go via Mitchelstown or Limerick?

Went via Mitchelstown at Christmas, you can get to Mitchelstown in a bit over two hours if you're lucky and from there to Killarney in less than 90 mins. So basically 3-4 hours. It often takes 5 via Limerick.

Going from Merrion Square to Killarney on Thursday so I'll soon know for sure!

5 Hours, when was the last time you went that way:rolleyes:

Dublin to Limerick is about 2 hours and 20mins at average speed. With the Motorway some can do it in 2hours.

It's about 4 hours to Kilarney via Limerick. The Mitchelstown route is not 3 hours:rolleyes: It's about the same time, but the road isn't as direct as the N7/N21. Most people I know go down the N7 to go to kilarney.

With The likes of the Castleisland bypass on stream ann fast tracking of the Adare bypass. It would more seem logical going via Limerick.

Both are actually simalar distance. Only 1km in difference.
    Via Limerick 302km 4,14mins
    Via Mitchelstown 303km 4,19mns.

Though With the the Motorways completed the M7 would be the most direct route by far. The M7 actually steers in a direct southwest Direction. Where as The N8 generally proceeds straightdown Tipp and towards Cork. The road from Mitchelstown to Kilarney is just awful incomparison to the N21.
