SKY+ HD does not default to correct input source on TV

    Hi,

sorry if this is a bit of a dumb ass Q ... but I've only just got my sky+ HD installed yesterday and when I turn on my TV and sky box I need to select, using the TV remote, the correct input source to get to my SKY channels ...

On my previous TV, I only had to ensure I pressed the sky button and the tv would recognize the sky input from the correct source ...

(I hope this is making sense) ... has this to do with the SKY remote and the correct coding of the remote or something else!

My sky+ HD box is a pace model and my TV is a samsung LE40A656 ...

    Thanks in advance

I'd imagine this is cos your old box used the SCART switching, whereby the Scart lead forces the TV to switch to the appropriate AV channel. Whereas now you are using a HDMI lead, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, I don't think HDMI "auto-switches" like Scart does.

thanks Joe for the info ...

a bit of pain all the same ... SCART having more user friendly auto-switching over HDMI ....

I could be wrong, infact I hope I am, as I'm thinking about getting HD myself, and the lack of auto-switch does seem like a step back! The auto-switching is handy.

My blu-ray player however, does force my TV to switch to the correct AV channel, but I think that's more to do with clever HDMI-sync pairing (both being Sony) than anything else.

Make sure that the HDMI cable goes into the HDMI 1 slot at the back of your telly.
I have the exact same telly and sky HD - it works for me.
Also you can change the source of the telly using the sky remote by pressing TV then Select. Remember to press the Sky when you've selected the right source.

if your TV doesn't support auto switching HDMI try this.

    press TV
Hold select and help (red light on remote flashes twice)
press help (until you find the correct AV input you want)
    press select

    Then...
    press tv
hold select and green (red light on remote flashes twice)
press help once (nothing should happen)
    press select to store.

Then when you press Sky, TV Guide, Box Office, Services or Interactive button, sky will auto switch to the correct AV.
