Will UFC 100 Sell Out?

Have a dilemma - thinking about going to UFC 100 in Vegas in July, but won't be able to be sure for a while, probably early June.

    Do I -

    1) buy a tickets in the fight club presale and risk being left with them as I watch on Setanta

    2) take a chance that they'll still be available and risk watching in a bar in Vegas?

I know Lesnar is a huge draw and the card is rumoured to be stacked, but I believe many of their shows are not sell outs.

if you want to watch at home do that..

It's more to do with either having tickets ( about 400 euros ) and not going, or by the time I go that it's sold out and I'm f*cked.

Anyways, no doubt there would be enough " entertainment " in Vegas to keep me occupied :D

Yes it will sell out, and yes it is worth it.
While most UFC events in Vegas don't sell out, the big ones do, and the tickets are like gold dust.
I was lucky enough to be in the MGM for GSP's mauling of BJ Penn a few months back.
Well, well, worth the 23 1/2 hours flight time, and all the expenses.

UFC 94 was sold out very quickly, and this is the biggest UFC event ever, with the best card ever.
It'll sell out within a few days at most.

If you decide not to go, you'll have no problem selling tickets online.
The only issue would be if you bought them through ticketmaster, rather than the box office itself.
The box office will post the tickets, while ticketmaster need you to collect them there, and you need photo ID.

I'd wholeheartedly recomend, and if I could afford, I'd do the same again.

One of the best live events I've ever been in, though that was mainly due to the rabid fans for both fighters.

Could you not sell them on ebay if you decide not to go?

Only if they're bought through the box office.

There is a difference between a sell out and a soft sell out Karmafaerie. Not to mention all the unsold tickets that get sold discounted to resorts during the weekend of the events. Vegas is totally on it's arse at the moment. Im very sceptical on whether it will sell out.

If there's one show that will sell out, it's this one. But I wouldn't be 100% confident that it will. As rovert mentioned, pretty much every UFC show gives unsold tickets to casinos in the days before the event, and they can then claim a sell out as all tickets are accounted for

Off topic - but is there any truth in the rumor on Sherdog that Joe Rogan will be ref'ing a fight at UFC100?

Without having heard about it before, I'd say there's no truth to it at all. The UFC don't pick the refs, the commission does. So Joe would have had to go off and get his qualifications from the commission, ref at amateur and low level MMA shows successfully, and somehow keep all of that quiet until now

Here's a link to the thread on Sherdog.

Probably bullsh*t, but it would be pretty cool.

Why would it be cool? Making a mock of mma to put in a comedian to ref-thats ridiculis!

He's got an extensive martial arts background, can't dismiss him as just a comedian

Sure they were in serious talks a few years ago to have him fight Wesley Snipes on PPV

It definitely will. I'm in the Fight Club and the demand is very big and I will be surprised if they make general sale.

They can't just claim that a show sold out if it didn't though. There are ways that they can manipulate it so that they can say that it's sold out, as mentioned earlier, but it's not as simple as just saying that it's sold out so that people will buy early in future

There is loads of ways around it, my da is on the security team in the o2 and they are told its called sold out if its 80% sold out or something like that! in vegas there may be different rules for this but as stated already, they give the left over tickets to casinos so officially they got rid of all the tickets, thats a simple loophole tbh, there is lots of other ways too.

its well known they hardly ever have official sell outs, but they dont want us to know that for obvious reasons..

It would really nice to know under the Trade Descriptions Act or whatever what is the minimum required percentage of tickets you can sell before you can claim a sellout. Both in Ireland and in Vegas would be nice.

Like with any major PPV there is always extra tickets released in days leading up to a fight after they figure out the production requirements (cameras, staging etc.)

Don't understand how Strikeforce can sell more tickets for a fairly poor card if UFC don't sell out 100?

Is the price structure the same?

Are you talking about a San Jose Strikeforce show with Frank Shamrock headlining? If so, it's just because Frank is a massive draw in that city, as well as the promotion being sort of local to the area and having a good reputation there

    Agreed.

Yeah Scott Corker has promoted at the grassroots level for years and years. That said Ive havent heard a peep of media for it this week.

Strikeforce nearly sold out the arena which has a capacity of around 19K for Shamrock / Le.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,594 ✭✭✭Fozzy

I'm pretty sure that the attendance for Shamrock/Le was around 15000 with 14000 paid. Which was still something like the third biggest US MMA paid attendance

Strikeforce still holds the US MMA paid attendance record, for Frank Shamrock vs Cesar Gracie. And Diaz is trained by Gracie
