Playing Blu-Ray on laptop to Plasma tv?

I have just recently bought a HP laptop. High enough spec. 3Gb ram etc.

One of the big draws was the Blu-Ray drive on it. I can connect the laptop to my plasma with a spare Monster HDMI cable and can view the windows on my 42" LG plasma. That is fine.

Then i played an original Blu-Ray movie on the laptop. The movie plays ok on the laptop, but when i connect it to my plasma to view the movie on the 42" screen, i get a problem. The message reads 'this is copyright protected'

That has now annoyed me, as i thought i could use the HP laptop to play Blu-Rays on my tv instead of paying another €250 for a standalone Blu-Ray player. Can i change some settings in Vista or am i snookered??

Sounds like the HDMI output on your laptop has HDCP protection preventing HDCP content being transmitted to another device.

Model no. of the laptop would help.

Hope this helps. She is a 'HP G70 Notebook PC'.
That is what it tells me in Control Panel => System.

Is there any way to disable that HDMI protection in the settings anywhere?

Would running Anydvd HD in the background help this??

I have a blu ray drive in my laptop (Acer 6920) and when I hooked it up to my HD projector it played everything but I do have anydvd HD running in the background!

Could another option be to run the HDMI through a HDMI splitter, say a 3 in 1 out splitter??
