    Hi folks

looking for the experts advice here!

i'm female, 29 and havent cycled in about ten years.

i want to get back into it, for fitness reasons mainly.

the last bike i had was a "rayleigh racer" as far as i remember.

i'd be cycling mainly on countryside roads, but nothing very dramatic like halfway up mountains.

what kind of bike would ye advise?

and what price would we be talking?

    thanks

oops .. deleted my posts ... I wasn't replying properly tp the post.

Well ... what kind of cycling do you want to get into? What is your budget? Are you under 5'3?

If you are comfortable with the position, get a road bike with drop bars. These start from around €750 new in a local bike shop. Fit is very important with this sort of bike. I am guessing you _might_ be comfortable with drops if your Raleigh racer had them.

If you are not so comfortable with the position, I would get a lightweight hybrid. These start a bit cheaper. How tall are you?

Would never advise a beginner to go halfway up a mountain, you need to get to the top before you can go down the other side :)

You would be in good company, most people with "racing" bikes don't race, but the drop bars give multiple hand positions and are more comfortable over longer distances.
