Using a non @gmail.com address for Google Talk

    I found a way to go it by creating an account for Google Alerts with my own email address.

    Then I downloaded Google Talk and tried to use it with it. It told me it wasn't setup for Talk and redirected me to the website.

    Website said due to a system bug I had to register a Gmail account and then delete it after.

    I created a random one to the effect of sdgadgsdhs@gmail.com.

    I then deleted it as suggested by Gmails help.

    I login to Google Talk now with my own address but sdgadgsdhs@gmail.com is showing up as the contact info and as my nickname.

    Any thoughts?

    Can you sign up for google accounts using a non google address?
