Enjoyed the pranks some guys put up to fool others on April 1st.....some very good convincing ones.

However, i don't know if I'm the only one or not, but I think that April Fool Jokes should either be removed, or placed in a seperate thread with appropriate heading, about a week after April 1st.

I not trying to be a spoilsport or anything...enjoy a good prank as much as the next man......but I'm aware that people search through previous posts and threads searching for info....if they come across one of these pranks in nine / ten months time they may be misinformed, believing the info. to be true and may not check the date of posting.

Some of the pranks were obvious but others were very convincing and could be taken for fact and quoted at a later date.

How do others think or am I being a bit over the top?

Not really OTT, because some half wit will, no doubt, stumble across one later on and think it's gospel.

I wouldn't delete them but maybe a Mod could lock it with a note: This is an April Fools Joke, do not act apon.

I suppose it's better to be careful than sorry. I'll put a tag in their subject lines.

    Good thinking.
I'll tag the title of the Wexford Slobs goose cull too; it originated elsewhere, but got a bit of traction here too.

If anyone knows of any other similar threads knocking about, please let us know about them here.

Rovi what ever happened to the Irish Sense of humour. When in doubt open your mouth, when things come up like this, pick up the phone and ask the particular Government department the question. I think it would be Duchas wildlife section in this case.

A lot of hot air about nothing.

The libel act and the tort of Negligent Misstatement and related common law, all of which combine with Ireland being the second most litigious state in the world (2nd only to the US - I swear, GAA is not our national sport, litigation is) to stomp up and down repeatedly on the Irish sense of humour.

Sparks re the original post, correct me if I am wrong was to do with x number of thousand White fronted Geese being shot out of season. Please explain to me in my ignorance what that has to do with the libel act and the tort of Negligent Misstatement and related common law.

The poster when he found out it was a prank brought it to the attention of the readers that it was an April fool joke.

Ireland is becoming so PC in the shooting world and other areas that one will be afraid to say (fart) in case we upset someone.

I've no worries about saying fart Sikamick. I've worries about the subsequent lawsuits. It's not "PC", it's trying to avoid being sued (and no, it's not over-reacting, we have had seven or eight times more lawsuit threats than even the Politics forum in the last few years).
