Hey, about a month ago I brought car insurance through a broker. I asked the girl who was the insurer, and she said axa. Grand job I thought and took it. When I got to the broker I was handed the disc and off I went. Looking at it later I realised it wasnt axa, but some gang called setanta based out of malta, they appeared to be registered by the goverment, but Im concerned that basicly they are some fly by night shower who will either go tits up at some point or just refuse to honour any claim and go "nya nya nah nah were on malta sucks to be you".
    So, any advice ?

if anything happens(accident/crash) you have to ring your broker anyways, if anything goes wrong, say they wont pay you out the money your broker will have to sort it out, they are the only person you talk to really....if theres problems Consumer Association of Ireland will defo look after you....

was it a competitive qoute ???

Yes, very decent, about 700 for a 2L diesel for a 24 year old with 6 years ncb.

I'm insured with them as is my father (both commercial policies). Thankfully we've not had to claim for any reason but i'd imagine that seeing as they've been granted a licence to trade here then you've the same come back with them as any other insurer in Ireland. (If they give you the bird then i'd imagine its the problem of the broker & whoever granted their trading licence).

Great rates by the way! €250 below the next nearest quote for me.

FBD wouldn't quote me at all as I drive a Jap 4x4. Their loss...

paid 595euro with Setanta for open drive fully comp, full all-round glass cover, can tow practically anything and can pull in england also.

Claimed last week for a front passanger window and stolen spare key that was in the bag taken. The glass was replaced within 24 hours, and the key in four days. Didnt have to pay a penny.

It didnt effect my excess or no claims. The girl did you a favour.
