    Maynooth Interviews
Hi all - has anyone heard back from Maynooth yet following entrance exams for social science re interviews.???

I sat that exam on the 28th of March and I still havent heard back from Maynooth.:(
Hoping to hear some news in the next week or so. I am not certain if everyone gets a letter, or if it is just the successful applicants who are contacted.

What type of questions did they ask you? Was there many people interviewing you? Was there many people waiting for interviews? Sorry for so many questions it's just I have mine at the start of May. Well done on it going well :)

Interview was very much geared on the social science course, policy changes for government etc. We were short listed to about 50 people. I had 2 people interviewing, however one asked most of the questions. Make sure you know exactly what is involved in doing the course, and what you hope to do with it - what have you applied for? Also question about "Why Maynooth?" - have a couple of basis questions for the end of the interview as you will be asked if you have any - make them relevant to the course and think it's also ok to ask when you will know if you're successful or not - good luck!:D

Interview was very relaxed - maynooth love mature students!! Interview lasted about 15 - 20 mins. I'd say be yourself, read up on your course, they'll probably ask you why this course? why maynooth? Also be prepared for a question about the recession.. you can twist the interview so something you want to talk about also.. Don't panic - staff in maynooth are really nice :D min 15 places for mature

I had my interview on Monday. I feel like it went very well. I was incredibly nervous but the interviewers were wonderful. I was not asked about The youth and community diploma nor the arts degree although a few people I spoke with afterwards had it mentioned to them.
I was told the interviews were shortlisted to 40 people from the exam and there is 15 places. We should find out if we were successful 10 to 14 days from the interview.
Again best of luck to anyone who had an interview, hope to see you all in Maynooth in September.:)

I am beyond nervous at this stage lol. My problem is I havent done a course in this area since school although I have done another course in a different area. What kind of questions were you asked Che Chick?

Hi ontour. :D Try not to be nervous.
The basically asked me, Why I returned to education as a mature student..?
What I found Challenging in the economy in 2009.?
What area I would like to specialise in?
Where I see myself 5 years from now.?
What can I bring to the Social Science degree course?
Finally if I had any questions I would like to ask them? try and have one or two questions relative to the course ontour...
    And that was it.
So best of Luck Ontour maybe we will be on the same course from September...;)

hey everyone! well done on getting interviews! :D
im in my second year of the social science course
in maynooth, so i thought id just give you a few pointers on what they may be looking for.
if they ask you a question on one thing you'd change, think of your answer carefully, basically think of all the implications it could have, not just the positive results.
also they really want you to learn to think about things in an objective manner and realise the limits within the system; financial and social.
    its a great course though!
i hope this helps a bit, i didnt wanna give you the answers but if you just think about possible answers before you go in.have a look online about an area your interested in, education, health, and look at the pros and cons of our current system within this area- if it doesnt help in the interview it will get you started for your course!
maybe think about why our system isnt working as it is.
i didnt do an interview as i went through the cao but these are the general objectives of the course so they may be some use!
hope this helps! let me know how you get on! its nice hearing of people doing the same course!

Hi guys I know I'm a couple of years behind this thread but it seems like the best place to ask this question. What does the written test for Social Science in NUI Maynooth entail? Ive received a letter with 3 sample essay topics. Do they ask that you write about 1 of these topics for the hour, or do you write about 2, or what?

    Any advice much appreciated.

By 2 I mean do you have to write 2 seperate essays, as was the case with the MSAP exam.
