Has anyone had any issues with this type of van?
I have one and have constant problems with it. There is some new type of computer system in it that measures oil, proformance, etc etc. The thing is that the service interval is set at 15,000kms next is 30,000 then 45,000 etc. The thing is there was aproblem with it when i got it and they had to do a full service at 7,000kms but the service light still comes on at 15,000 although it is serviced. the thing is that it counts down 2,500 kms before the service and once it reaches the service interval and if you do not service it, it goes into recovery mode which means you can not drive over 45km/ph. there is another computer in it too that monitors the rest of the stuff and this also keeps putting the van into recovery mode. It is a 08 van and i have been back with it 12 times since last feb.
The moral of the story is done buy one of these they are a disaster!

Have you spoken to Renault Ireland about it?

yes, they do not want to know about it. i have been pestering the head of warrenty about it and as far as they are concerned it is there to monitor emmisions and is to make the enviornment cleaner and they can do nothing about it. i personally think this is a load of crap. at the end of the day the end user is the best perrson to ask for advise which is why i am putting this here.

Probably best route to take as it seems the dealer are only interested in trying to repair it.

    OK couple of Questions

    1) Is this an Irish or UK van?

    2) Is this a manual or automatic van?

    3) At what mileage did the problem start and what mileage is on it now?

    4) Where do you get it serviced?

Ok the reason I ask is because I have a good few dealings with theses and the Opel version Which is the same van built in Luton ) and I've never heard of a similar problem with them. You say in your original post that it was serviced at 7k but the service light comes on at 15k and the van goes into limp home mode. Why havent the dealer just re-set this computer or replaced it if you've been back 12 times. They must know its a problem on your specific van so what have they done so far to rectify the problem if they havent done any of the above. The only time I heard of one of these types of van going into limp home mode ( with such low Kms ) is when the diesel is contaminated. Do you buy your diesel from the same place or do you store it at home yourself?

they said they can not interfere with the diagnsos of the van. In face they tell me that when they went to "update" the software on the computer in the van it was actually done by someone in the renault factory where ever it is and not by the mechanic in the garage. They said they can not change the service interval timing as this is what i wanted them to do in the first place or even to just ture the bloody thing off.
I buy my diesel in texaco all the time.

basically yes they have..... i just have to keep going into them everytime i get this fault, hence the amount of times i have had to go back there since i got the van. Actually the last time the mechanical light came on and it went into recovery mode the head mechanic told me that it was happening because i drove the same route every day and that i wasnt actually doing constant motorway mileage....

See there's your problem, your listening to those eejits. Take it to a different garage and dont darken their door again.

Send Renault Ireland a detailed letter expressing your dismay with the particular garage aswell. (Case made even stronger if a different garage fixes it too)
