    Hi,
I am looking to take up guitar again after many years absence and am thinking of getting an Epiphone LP but not sure which one.
I dont mind spending around 4-€500 on it.

I am just gonna be messing about the house when the other half and kids arent about or when i can get sometime.

I dont want to get anything too cheap and have my heart preyty set on an LP from Epiphone but as i am not very well up on quality gear and that and because there are so many variations i thought you guys could help??

    Thanks a lot!!

If you could strech another little bit there's; what seems to be; a lovely blue Gibson LP special for sale on adverts. I was tempted meself but have too many axes as it is. :)

The Epiphones are going online for a bit cheaper than €500. Might see a bargain on the UK sites for well under €400
    Try www.gak.co.uk
    www.dv247.com
    www.dolphinmusic.co.uk

    Also power sellers on ebay.

If you are spending €500 on a guitar, maybe you could get a higher quality guitar for near that amount.

Edwards made in Japan would be a much better quality guitar for around €600 to €700. They are built probably better than the USA Gibsons. Look out for second hand ones on ebay and adverts.ie

Check out some Gibson Les Paul Studios too, might see one going cheap these days. There are one or two on adverts.ie too.

Actually on closer inspection it's a LP studio

worst thing is trying to pick a model, but around the 4-500 quid bracket would be what i am looking to spend.

If i can get a better guitar for that amount then suggestions would be very welcome.

    Many thanks,

Yamaha pacifica is my main guitar for gigging. Very versatile. Much more comfortable to play than a Les Paul. But if you have your heart set on a LP drive on. For that budget you should be able to get yourself something really nice.

Add another couple of hundred and buy an Edwards gem LP.

No point talking about other shapes, if the OP wants an LP, then that's it really.
Similar to a recent thread, the OP wants a Gibson.

You asked me to let you know what i went for in the end .......

Considering the work situation at the moment and the fact that I will be a beginner just noodling in the spare room i went for something pretty basic and not LPlike....

    with this amp :

Sorry to waste everyones time asking questions...but funds (and realistic expectations) prevailed in the end.

    Thanks,
    Kaz
