Vintage Evening Wear Dublin

OK, so I have a ball coming up, it's black tie and must be full length. However, owing to budget restraints (the joys of being a student!) I can't really afford to go out and buy a brand new evening dress (unless anyone knows of any reasonably-priced ones out there?), plus full length is rather out of fashion, and hard to find as it is! I was wondering if there are any shops in Dublin that sell (not-too-expensive) second hand/vintage evening dresses?

Charity shops tbh. Have a look in Rathmines, there's a load there and one of my friends got two Urban Outfitters dresses for a tenner each a few months ago.

If not, maybe borrow? Or check out ebay?

Also sample sales can bring up great stuff. I have about 6 full length formal dresses that i got in a sample sale. There's a place in Ballymount called Fashion City full of wholesalers that always have sample sales going on, usually on saturday mornings and some weekday ones.

Thanks, yeah, I did ask around to borrow, but no one I know has a floor length dress! Cheers anyway!

Jenny Vander (south william street or clarendon street- can never remember). You can buy or hire vintage evening dresses there. For something really stunning I'd recommend hire.

Don't knock TK Maxx either. Stephens green branch not fantastic but the one in Blanchardstown usually has a good dress selection.

I would agree that Charity shops or borrowing is you're best bet. There is another vintage shop in Dublin, on Clarendon street, called 'A store is born' which I think is much better value than Jenny Vander, but its only open on saturday. Its also go alot more evening dresses than JV 's and you can rent some of the dresses there, which means you would get a stunning dress, no one else will turn up wearing the same thing and you can bring it back when you're done!

Also maxi dresses seem to be in fashion for the summer, so you might be able to pick up a nice long dress on the high street. Heres one on asos for 70 euro
