    Hi

I have put windows 7 onto my old celeron laptop and works fine. I have XP Pro SP3 on my desktop and have enabled TCPv6.

The Desktop can see Win7 Folder but unable to access due to not having permission. The Win7 Laptop cannot even see the XP Desktop.

There is obviously something i'm missing here can someone please tell me what it is?

    Thanks

Why are you using IPv6? Use the standard TCP (v4).

    Vista/Windows 7 use v4 & v6

Just been doing some more reading and it might be to do with XP needing LLTD (Link Layer Topology Discovery)

I'm aware of that but it's not even readily necessary yet, that's why I'm suggesting using IPv4 for XP compatibiliy.

What release of Windows 7 do you use? There is a well known bug with at least one of the versions.

Also for reliabilty and performance only do file/printer sharing at one Computer, the one least likely to be off or moved.
