Car hire in canada

Anyone ever booked with gohop.ie? They seem to work out more reasonable than Avis for car hire.
We wanted to hire a SUV type vehicle because we will be going through the rockies and wanted to have a good view. Hertz is double the price, but I'm not sure if it's ok to book with gohop.ie

Also do you need any extra insurance or cover, or does your travel insurance cover it?
    Any advise appreciated!

Can you give us some prices/dates please?

    Never used gohop.ie

Insurance isn't usually included in the car hire price so yes, you'll need to get extra. Travel insurance doesn't cover car hire insurance (most of the time at least)

Well GoHop are quoting from AVIS - €468.60 (Calgary to Jasper) in June for 6 days hire, see details below:
Group W - Chevrolet Trailblazer or similar
Standard, Automatic, Unlimited Mileage, Air Conditioned
Price includes collision damage waiver (excess is payable); Third party liability; Theft protection (not on personal items) ; Unlimited mileage; Local taxes.
You may wish to purchase additional CDW cover to waive your already limited liability in case of damage to or theft of the vehicle. This can be arranged at the local office at time of vehicle pick up.

Where as Avis themselves were working out around €551 for the same jeep, and Hertz €965 for a Ford Explorer.

Edited to say: I've just redone the search on Avis, and the are €468 for the Trailblazer, but they include the 1 way fee in the price and have
    Loss Damage Waiver INCLUDED
    Additional Liability Insurance INCLUDED

I'm going to read their T&C's and check the additional driver charge, but its probably best to book with them.

Ponser: When you hired cars did you buy additional insurance?

Alamo should be cheaper than both those but I can't find 'Jasper' (just the national park).

Try using novacarhire to get a price.

Thats great thanks, I had a quick look and they only allowed for Edmonton drop offs that's 365km apparently. I couldn't find Jasper at all, not even the Nat. Park.
I'll look again later, but it looks like Avis is probably the best option.

Try canada.fastcarhire.co.uk which seem to be cheaper (and have Jasper as an option)
